Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS)
MiDAS is a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. Some partners of the East Sussex Rural Transport Partnership have their own Driver Assessor/Trainer who can train/assess drivers, of both accessible and non-accessible vehicles, at your workplace. We can organise First Aid training for drivers at British Red Cross centres throughout East Sussex. Courses include a 4-day standard First Aid at Work certification course. On successful completion of the course, delegates will become Qualified First Aiders and will receive the Health and Safety Executive approved British Red Cross certification, which is valid for 3 years.The First Aid at Work course covers:

The East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) can offer ad hoc training in disability awareness, as well as sessions providing escort guidance. The Community Transport Association (CTA) runs a number of training packages and events covering specialist knowledge for volunteer and paid staff. The packages include:
Passenger Assistance Training (PATS) Minibus Fire & Evacuation Procedures Car Scheme Driver Training Car Scheme Management Training
These packages work on the "cascade" principle of having training agents who can pass on training to trainers. You can choose either to buy in training for your staff or invest in your own trainer which can bring in valuable income from other community groups in your area.
