Training

We can organise training for your drivers or escorts on a range of courses, from MiDAS and First Aid training to disability awareness training.

Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS)

MiDAS is a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. Some partners of the East Sussex Rural Transport Partnership have their own Driver Assessor/Trainer who can train/assess drivers, of both accessible and non-accessible vehicles, at your workplace. For more details, click here.

First Aid training

We can organise First Aid training for drivers at British Red Cross centres throughout East Sussex. Courses include a 4-day standard First Aid at Work certification course. On successful completion of the course, delegates will become Qualified First Aiders and will receive the Health and Safety Executive approved British Red Cross certification, which is valid for 3 years.

The First Aid at Work course covers:

The Red Cross also runs a 1-day basic First Aid Appointed Person Certificate which covers:

Disability awareness training

The East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) can offer ad hoc training in disability awareness, as well as sessions providing escort guidance. We can approach ESDA on your behalf or you may prefer to contact them direct. Click here for more details on ESDA or email Info@esda.org.uk

Other training packages

The Community Transport Association (CTA) runs a number of training packages and events covering specialist knowledge for volunteer and paid staff. The packages include:

These packages work on the "cascade" principle of having training agents who can pass on training to trainers. You can choose either to buy in training for your staff or invest in your own trainer which can bring in valuable income from other community groups in your area. We can approach the CTA on your behalf or you may wish to contact them direct.
