There are a variety of community transport schemes in East Sussex and although they do not fit neatly into categories because of their
individuality, they are broadly as follows:
Community Buses - these are minibuses which regularly operate set
routes to a timetable, picking up members of the general public.
Social Car Schemes - these schemes operate with volunteers driving
their own cars.
Community or Group Transport - there are a number of minibuses
which take groups of people, who often belong to a club, on specific
journeys such as a social outing or to a lunch club.
- Dial-a-Ride - these minibuses or accessible cars operate for individuals with disabilities to make everyday journeys.
- Non-Emergency Ambulance Services - these vehicles are specifically
designed to take people who require medical treatment.
Co-ordination - the County presently has just one project of this
type in Lewes, which co-ordinates the loan and use of community transport. Many of the named contacts are volunteers based at home, please respect this when calling.
Many of the schemes welcome new volunteers, so if you feel you are able to spare some time, please contact them direct.
Important Note:
The inclusion of a scheme in this directory is not an endorsement by the East Sussex Rural Transport Partnership of the service provided.
