East Sussex Disability Association

Who are we?

The East Sussex Disability Association (ESDA) exists to help all disabled people in East Sussex achieve independence and control over their lives. ESDA is a registered charity where the majority of trustees and members are disabled people. To achieve our aims we employ a number of staff and volunteers, many of whom are disabled people, to run our projects and services.

What can we do for you?

We provide a wide range of services and support, either from our head office in Eastbourne or via our local groups across the county. We currently have groups in: Peacehaven, Newhaven, Seaford, Eastbourne, Bexhill, Polegate, Hailsham, Heathfield, Pevensey and Westham, Lewes, Uckfield, Crowborough, Wadhurst, Battle, Sedlescombe, Hastings and Rother.

Below are just some examples of how we can help you.

• Send you a copy of our newsletter to keep you up to date with news and information
  
• Give advice on arranging your own holiday or tell you about our group holidays
  
• Help you claim the Social Security benefits that you are entitled to
  
• Show you our display of disability equipment in our Disability Living Centre and give you professional advice from a qualified occupational therapist
  
• Tell you about our independent living support service which can help you take control over the personal assistance that you require
  
• Give you information and advice on a wide range of subjects relevant to you as a disabled person
  
• Give you advice on finding and keeping employment as well as advice on adaptations that can make work and training more accessible
  
• Put you in touch with our local groups across the county which offer everything from group outings, lunch clubs, social activities and home visiting to local campaigns and awareness raising
  

There are many other ways we may be able to assist you so do contact us and we will try to help you.

What can you do for us?

We would not be able to provide all these services without your support and help. We are always keen to hear from people, disabled and non-disabled people, interested in doing some voluntary work. This might be with one of our local groups or in our head office in Eastbourne.
